Hospital Director
Dr. Redgrave grew in up in Halifax and completed his veterinary training at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. After practicing in Vancouver, British Columbia at several busy hospitals he returned home and began practicing at Weste Animal Hospital in 2015. His clinical interests include orthopaedic and soft-tissue surgery, emergency medicine, dermatology and dentistry. He lives in Three Fathom Harbour and spends his free time restoring his old house, canoeing and birding with his beloved Border Terrier Bobby.
Dr. Kylie Cwynar
Dr. Cwynar was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick and completed her Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie University. After spending some time working in restaurants and traveling, she finally was given the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island. Kylie is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and preventative medicine. When not at the clinic, you can probably find her out with her potcake Scout, gardening or doing home renovation projects.
Dr. Julie Weste
My passion has been my small animal patients and my horses. These creatures cannot speak for themselves. They do not mislead and they do not lie. Animals have taught me a lot about honesty and politeness. Animals helped me develop insight and wisdom. They keep me grounded. Animals appreciate the golden rule ‘Do unto others as you would them do unto you’. Veterinary science and the art of practicing medicine is a special combination. I do what I love and I am what I do.
Dr. Kirsten Goodman
A native of New Glasgow, Dr. Goodman graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1981, fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. Over the years she has had the opportunity to ply her trade in many different practice settings, including a James Herriot- style country practice, several small animal/pet hospitals and a feline exclusive practice. She also owned her own practice in Dartmouth prior to her husband’s work requiring that they move to Ontario where they remained for twenty-four years and raised their family.
In 2014 Dr. Goodman returned home and joined the Weste Animal Hospital family. She has a special interest in feline medicine, endocrinology and reproduction, and derives great pleasure from observing the human-animal bond.
In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, choral singing, sea kayaking and spending time at their cottage in Pictou County. A breeder of Border Terriers, Dr. Goodman shares her home with four of them – Ruby, Tilley, Finnigan and Shirley.
Dr. Jen Zahradka
Originally from Winnipeg, Dr. Zahradka studied abroad in Australia before beginning her career in Labrador City, Labrador, where a small team provided 24/7 care to the community with very little opportunity for referral. As a result, she has just about seen it all (as her colleagues say), and is our resident Husky expert! Jen adds a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, and has an special interest in internal medicine and soft-tissue surgery.
